Sfera Technologies expands its ground segment services with Azercosmos partnership
Baku, August 25, 2023 — Space Agency of Republic of Azerbaijan — Azercosmos and Sfera Technologies, a Defense and Space company located in Bulgaria, have established a partnership in the field of ground segment operations.
Based on the agreement, the 5.5 m X/S-band Main Ground Control Station will be integrated with the HomePort station network developed by Sfera Technologies.
The favourable location and state-of-the-art infrastructure of the Azercosmos’ Main Ground Control Station allows receiving signals via satellite and fibre and provides an opportunity for partners to co-locate their equipment getting secure and uninterrupted services.
The state-of-the-art system located in Azerbaijan will boost Sfera’s ability to provide mid-latitude contacts for LEO satellites.
Vice Chairman of Azercosmos Fuad Aslanov highlighted an importance of the partnership and said: “As an Azercosmos team we are proud to be on a level where we are able to provide necessary equipment, location and conditions to our partners which gives an opportunity for them to come up with high level service. Having the very same target and vision, we together move forward into the future.”
